Overview

The Centre for Public Agency Sustainability Reporting is a collaboration of: the Global Reporting Initiative, ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, the City of Melbourne and the State Government of Victoria.

The Centre for Public Agency Sustainability Reporting (the Centre) was launched in March 2005 and its mission is to improve the sustainability performance of public agencies through the practice of reporting. The Centre is a not-for-profit entity, which seeks to build capacity in public agencies to undertake sustainability reporting and to facilitate the development of best practice in sustainability reporting by public agencies.

Collaborators

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is a multi-stakeholder process and independent institution whose mission is to develop and disseminate globally applicable sustainability reporting guidelines. The Centre is assisting with the development and implementation of GRI's Sector Supplement for Public Agencies (Pilot).

ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI) is an international association of local governments that have made a commitment to sustainable development. ICLEI works with hundreds of local governments through international performance-based, results-orientated campaigns and programs. The Centre is being incubated by ICLEI - Oceania.


The City of Melbourne has a strong international reputation as a leading sustainable city. The City of Melbourne was a sponsor of the GRI's Sector Supplement for Public Agencies and is keen to foster the practice of sustainability reporting by agencies internationally.

The State Government of Victoria is committed to a sustainable future and is supporting the Centre and development of sustainability reporting. The Centre specifically acknowledges the financial support provided by the Victorian Sustainability Fund.
