Frequently Asked Questions

What is Integrated Sustainability Services?

Integrated Sustainability Services is a merger of the Centre for Public Agency Sustainability Reporting (The Centre) and ICLEI Sustainability Services (ISS).  Integrated Sustainability Services was formed to assist local councils, as well as state and federal government departments and agencies, integrate sustainability into planning, decision-making, reporting and communication processes.

Why are the Centre and ISS merging?

With increasingly similar programs but slightly different delivery models, it was decided that a merger of the Centre and ISS would provide a new, more efficient and well-resourced unit to better assist organisations integrate sustainability into business operations.

When will Integrated Sustainability Services be launched?

Integrated Sustainability Services will be launched in May 2008.  New programs will offered from early 2009.

What happens if I have committed to and paid for the Sustainability Reporting Alliance for 2008?

I am interested in integrating sustainability, but am not currently involved in Sustainability Reporting Alliance. How will the merge affect me?

New clients of Integrated Sustainability Services will be offered a range of services.  Instead of a single program, Integrated Sustainability Services is intending to offer three program streams, consisting of an evaluation and review stream called Sustainability Pathway; a capacity-building stream called Advancing Sustainability; and a tailored stream called Sustainability for Leaders (see below).

What will Integrated Sustainability Services offer?

Integrated Sustainability Services will offer programs suitable for local councils, as well as state and federal government agencies and departments.  Three distinct program streams will be available:

Sustainability Pathway provides an overview of how sustainability can be operationalised in participating organisations and assists organisations to answer the key question “how do I know where I am on the sustainability pathway, and how do I move forward?”.

Advancing Sustainability provides a guided exploration of key topic areas, including:
•    Sustainability Planning
•    Measuring Sustainability Performance
•    Sustainability Reporting
•    Communications, Stakeholder Engagement and Training.

This stream is designed to build participants’ capacity to improve the integration of sustainability into operations and decision-making processes at their organisation.

Sustainability for Leaders involves tailored services for participants with a strong grounding in sustainability planning and implementation across their organisation who wish to further progress sustainability and would benefit from additional specialised assistance and professional development opportunities.

When will Integrated Sustainability Services' programs be available?

New programs will be available from early 2009.

What will Integrated Sustainability Services' programs cost?

The costs and fees of Integrated Sustainability Services’ programs and services will vary depending on participants’ individual requirements.  The fee structure is currently under development.

Will I still have access to the Sustainability Reporting Alliance wesbite and newsletter?

Sustainability Reporting Alliance members will still have access to the website until it is removed after the launch of Integrated Sustainability Services.  A new website and newsletter for Integrated Sustainability Services will be launched later in 2008.
